And to think we almost never met,...!
I came back into the Army in May of 2000. I went to Fort Jackson, SC, where I was supposed to be for a couple of weeks and then I was to head off to Germany. But while I was there, it was found that my enlistment contract was wrong and had to be redone. As a result, my orders to Germany were deleted and finally 7 months later and a school later, I was ready to leave. I had multiple sets of orders before getting my final ones bringing me to Fort Lee, VA. So I moved to Fort Lee in January of 2001. Not long after I got there, I became friends with a guy named Charlie who was in my company. Through him, I soon met his best friend, who just happened ot be,...Corey! I thought he was adorable, but didn't think much of it at first, since he was almost 9 years younger than I and I already had 2 kids! Soon we became friends and I realized that he had a HUGE crush on a friend of mine who had no interest in him, but liked to play with him. Eventually, she got out of control and I was NOT happy with the way she was treating him. Right about then, I realized that I wanted him for myself. So I set my mind to it! Within a week, I had a date and we have been together ever since!
Not long after we began dating, I found out I was pregnant. I had been raped that January and I got pregnant from it. The day I found out started out as one of the worst. I was pretty far along and when I found out, I was so conflicted. What would this do to my new relationship? End it, I assumed. Because I wanted this baby, no matter what. I dreaded that evening, but as soon as he came over, I told him. His response? "No big deal. We'll raise it together!" WHAT?! Well, Scotty was born in October of 2001 and he gave him his name. Six months later, we were married and in October 2003, we had another child!
